the Ocean [?] not being returned to the Derwent from where she sailed 27th March to convey the remainder of Col. Collins' establishment &c to his present Settlement. In May when his last letter was dated she had not returned nor have I heard any thing of her altho I have no doubt of her safety nor am I any otherways uneasy about her than the accumulation of expence, more than half which might have been accorded & the [indecipherable] have been now in China. If the Calcutta had remaind to assist the removals, as that ship would have had a fair Wind to the Derwent & perhaps have sailed equally as soon from hence for England. However as Col. Collins & myself could only request what the service pointed out to our Ideas, as necessary, I can only regret that Capt. Woodriff's orders or his own reasons prevented him from complying with my request, and as I never saw his orders or heard his reasons, I still form no opinion on the busines except regretting that he did not remain.
