Port Phillip fell in the account he gave of that place in his journals, the fallaciousnes of which were detected by those I sent afterwards to Survey it, and whose report went by the Glatton.

Since the Calcutta's departure I have heard twice from Col. Collins, his last letter was dated the 15th May last.  If you have the French Survey of Storm Bay Passage by D'Entrecasteaux you will observe the Mountain called the "Plateau" it is under that, he is settled.  As far as his accounts goes the situation is extremely advantageous, he has got Thirty acres under cultivation & his people all [indecipherable] in going on building &c.  Brown still remains with Col. Collins as does Mr Humphreys the Mineralogist who Collins tells me is busily & advantageously employed in his pursuits.

Some little delay has occurred in Mr. Bauers giving of the entire command to Col. Collins, but that is now arranged, and I am sorry to say that exclusive of some mutinous spirits among the people with Mr Brown, the Natives of that Quarter - indeed all over that spacious harbour have shown a very hostile disposition which it has been necessary to repres [?] by firing at them.  Collins informs me that
