ABORIGINALITES
A local resident has been making a
research into the aboriginal meanings
of local places. So far he has been
successful, and has handed us the fol-
lowing:
Gulgong - "a deep water hole"
Biraganbil - " The place of leeches"
Guntawang - " A meeting place
Callengoral and Callenbone - " The
meeting of waters"
Yamble - " A place of recreation and sporting."
Murrowolga - " A long sheet of deep water"
Uamby - "A pine scrub"
Browie - "An oak scrub
Many of our readers must be ac-
quainted with the meanings of other
well known places. By sending them
along to this office they will earn our
best thanks.

The above extract is from the Gulgong
Advertiser of 6th October 1899. No further
reliable information is at present obtainable.
