Re paper having reference to the collection
of Native names of places and their meaning
Senior Constable Jones no1034. respectfully
reports that he interviewed James Short
and Mrs Willoughby the oldest half cast
Aborigine about Mongarlowe respecting the
Native names of places in their district and
their meaning. They stated they know them
all in English, but not their meanings or
reasons why names were given to the various
places by the natives. There are not any Aborigines
in this districts.
