now called Gabo  Island
Holy dollar now called Ulladulla.
Boat-alley now called Bodalla.
When Mr  Tooth held Kooba run
in the County of Cooper his
employees called localities on that
run after places identified with
Mr Tooth's properties on the
South Coast and Queensland,
as "Bega Sandhill, Kameruka  
dam, Jondaryan Hut &c.
These names would be unknown
to the local blacks.
As to official mutilation
of names I would instance
Illabo (Railway Station)
as being Billabong with the
first and last two letters expunged.
Eu-ad-dera emphasis on the ad
a Parish name suggested by
me as being the native name
of the locality was abridged  
in the Survey Department to
Eudera destroying any meaning
or euphony the original name
might possess.
Finally I would suggest  
that the Secretary to the Society
place himself in communication  
with Mr William Small of
Swan Creek, South Grafton
who I am informed has taken
a great interest in the local
blacks and can speak their
language
