Saturday 29th August 1914

at anchor off Palm Island. H.M.S. "Sydney & Encounter" in port Troops employed same as yesterday. 5 pm S.S. "Aldenham" arrived from Hong Kong took our mail & proceeded to Sydney.

Sunday 30th August 1914

At anchor off Palm Isl. Troops onshore rifle practice Service held onboard Midnight S.S. "Aorangi" Captain Crawshaw,  Pilot Read. arrived from Sydney with stores & provisions for the fleet. Drill & boat practice as usual. sports & concerts at night.

Monday 31st August 1914

at anchor off Palm Isl. Vessels in port H.M.S. " Sydney" "Encounter" S.S. "Aorangi" Navel & Military troops engaged as usual.

Tuesday 1st September 1914

at anchor off Palm Isl. Same fleet as yesterday in port waiting dispatches Troops employed at drill.

at 5.30 am S.S. Bobbie Towns arrived from Townsville with provisions (70,000 lbs mutton 50 Tons potatoes fruit etc.)

Wednesday 2nd Sept 1914

at anchor off Palm with the fleet. 7.30 am two Submarines A.E.1. A.E.2 arrived. 4pm left with the fleet for Port Moresby 10 pm passed Double point.
