There is in the Records of the office an appointment of an assistant to the master & worker of the mint, it was made in 1695 on the occasion of the Great Recoinage in the Reign of Wm & Mary, The Business of the master in a Silver Coinage is infinitely greater in a Silver than in a Gold Coinage, it is not unlikely that the amount of the meltings done in the year 1811 was greater than in any one year of the Recoinage of Gold in 1774 &c it may therefore be advisable to Renew this office as the Coinage of Silver is Likely to take place to a vast Extent, as Fast as Bullion Can be processd.
The Business of the melter is that that requires an immediate inspection & a Prompt Reform The Bank Directors are aware that Large Profit is derivd from that Source to some one but but others are not Likely to know that it is Realy divided between two of the Subalterns of the Establishment they may Easily Suppose that the master that the master who usd formerly to derive profit advantage from this Source has Still an interest in the Profit which must be Considerable as the Bank Paid on this account in the years 1811 & 1812 £14775 - in whose Ever
