Employment of any kind
They Receive for Each member of their Body a Salary of £40 a year whenever the Coinage of that year does not Amount to £500,000, They were in the beginning of the BLast Last year 5 only in number, Some of whom were always absent in the Countrey, they have now become by the Expiration of apprentisships 8, besides which the kindness of the Late master, without whose consent it cannot be done, has allowd them another apprentise who when admitted into the body will increase it to 9 members
besides all this the Person who is nominated by the Company of Moneyers as their Provost, has for some time been indulgd with a Salary of £100 a year allowd to him nominaly for keeping the Tools in order

it will be well to Enquire when this usage which appears to be a modern one began & also whether in the Present new establishment of machines for the Superintendence of which an officer is appointed with a large Salary the Provost Can do any usefull Service
This money is paid into the Common Stock of the Company & might be applied to the maintenance & Repairs of the new machinery.
No 5 Surveyor
The business of this officer is to superintend the Repairs of the mint building when necessary & the Erection of Such new ones as may be Requird of him, his Salary is very small & merely honorary but as he is allowd to chuse 5 Per Ct for all business done by him there Seems no need of increasing it, in Fact the office of Surveryor is held of most Public Bodies without any Salary
