All the furniture & utensils were quite mixed up, for if the Germans wanted a couch, bed, cooking utensils or any article from any house for their billet they took it. When they found they had to retreat they burnt the furniture, having no more use for it.

23rd
In a tent at Souplet. We  marched about 11 miles today. The weather is fine but very cold. In tent with Capt. Dick Swinbourne, Padre Durnford & Doc Merrillees.

24th.
We marched about 19 Km. today from Souplet  to Priches [possibly Prisches] [continued on Page 8]
