three pairs of beautiful socks. Socks are plentiful now. Everyone has 3 pairs - I have 9 pairs. I finished reading "Clementina" & commenced "Jesus Christ & Social Question". Wrote to Jess - Had the cake for afternoon tea - A drizzly day & windy.
14th
We commenced our march to Florennes passing from Sains through Ramousies to Sivry. I rode on horse ambulance on account of my face. We crossed into Belgium about midday. The people here are scrupulously clean & their houses outside & inside shine. We have received a most cordial welcome. These Belgians are totally different to the Walloons Flemings in Flanders in hospitality, cleanliness, speech & modes of living.
