floral tributes on Shakespeare's grave.   Many Americans in uniform were here.   After the procession in company with a Canadian padre I inspected the Church. Then with a New Zealand Y.M.C.A. manager I visited Shak's birthplace & bought several little souvenirs.

In the afternoon, with this N.Zealander & two of his lady friends I visited Ann [Anne] Hathaway's Cottage.   Had tea near by & then returned to town to have another walk around.   In the evening I accompanied the New Zealander & his lady friend to the Theatre to see parts of "Coriolanus" and "Merry Wives of Windsor" played by Sir F. Benson, Lady Benson & Genevieve Ward.

Left Stratford on Avon for Oxford.   Visited here Bodleian Library & Reading Room.   From the Reading Room one gets a wonderful view of the Churches, Colleges
