Every house has been blown down or burnt, farm implements destroyed, every fruit tree cut down, mines sprung at the street corners or road crossings, wells filled in or poisoned & trees felled across the streets. The destruction is wholly inconceivable. On approaching a village one is at first struck by the peaceful belt of trees surrounding what appears to be a collection of intact buildings.
