light four hundred prisoners, the town of Hermies & a good sized piece of country was in our hands. During the day the enemy assiduously battered the town but attempted no counter attack. We were relieved on the night of the 10th & went out to billets in Beaumetz. The latter had once been a fair sized town but had suffered considerably in the hands of Fritz. Beautiful houses have been ruthlessly destroyed with all their compliment of household furniture & utensils. We had a fairly quiet time in Beaumetz until Sunday 15th Fritz broke thorough
