& chicken from the bill of fare we called for tea & bread & butter. No we would not take wine – we had just dined & had only sauntered in to fill up time. Les Calais was dull especially when it rained (like as didn't always rain in Calais) Having completed our lordly repast (the chief recommendation which was that real butter was served) we walked up and down the street, had a shop window spree & bought a pound of apples. We then went to the lounge to sleep. In the morning (Sunday) by dint of pooling our funds we had a 2.50 franc breakfast & going to the main Boulogne road were lucky
