As possibly you may not be aware, the date passes through three distinct colours at first green, then pale pink deepening into raspberry red which in its turn darkens to the finished article purplish black. They hang in enormous bunches, as big as a man can lift on a fibrous stem coloured orange so it can be understood readily that the contrast of colours is very beautiful. Here now they are a deep red in dark green leaves €“ very fine.
