for Liverpool people - Can't compare with our Australian seaside places for beach, sea, fresh air or pleasure.   Great crowds everywhere on trains & ferries.

Saturday 19th
Walked for 2 hours through business portions of Liverpool.   Saw tremendous numbers of very filthy women & children & many stunted or physically defective people.

Left Liverpool at 4 pm for Manchester arriving there 40 minutes later. Put up at Midland Hotel & after dinner went for a walk & was surprised to meet Capt Bone of 13th Bn.   We had coffee & lemonade together.

Sunday (Easter)
Slept in until 10 am. Went to lunch with Capt.
