The industries in this area seem to be dairying & fruit growing (apples) & vegetable growing. Passed a communal  Orchard with every tree bearing name of its owner. A good idea for supporting a hospital.  

27th
Resting at Sains.  There are many fine large chateaux here. Cloudy day.   McRae Lt. recd Birthday cake - had it for Supper.

28th
Camp Bn had a bath at Divl. Baths. Cleaned up filth left here in hospitals - now our billets - by the Bosches.
Mc Rae received another cake from Australia.   Had it for supper.

29th
Address to Brigade by Brigadier-General Drake Burkmann [possibly Drake Brockman] [continued on Page 14]
