know if this is not satisfactory to Mr. Justice Ferguson. The photographs are taken by Army photographers and the cost of the material is provided out of funds placed at my disposal by the Joint War Committee of the British Red Cross Society and St. John Ambulance Association.
Would you please inform Mr. Justice Ferguson that we have strict instructions to photograph only the individual graves and not to photograph any surroundings as these may always be of military value, and in the special case of Bois Grenier this would be particularly so. When I was last there some months ago, the cemetery was surrounded by military works of one sort and another and the remainder of the surroundings consisted of battered and ruined houses.
2. Lieutenant John Stanser Rich is reported as buried in the vicinity of La Quinque Rue. N.E., of Festubert, but for military reasons it is not possible at present to make a thorough search in this neighbourhood, but if at a later date the officers of the Grave Registration Units in that area are able to locate the grave I will inform you at the first possible moment.
Yours faithfully
(Sgd) FABIAN WARE.
