I have sent a card home.

Melbourne, September 7, 1914.
Last Thursday (3rd/9) the Lloyd steamer "Hessen" arrived here, so now there are 6 German ships lying at anchor here. On Friday (4th/9) we were released on parole, i.e. on the basis of our word of honour we are allowed ashore anytime we wish, but have to report every day to the police station or on board. Last Saturday, I was in town. On the 5th/9 I received a letter from H. Onken and one from home.
