Of the Germans interned here in Australia, only those who were born here and have an Australian wife are allowed to stay. The Germans who came from New Guinea and the former German protectorates have to remain here until it is decided whether they can go back there or not. Each internee has a luggage allowance of 84 English lbs, plus hand luggage. The vast majority of us have substantially more luggage, however.
