<p>[Page 105]</p><p>The substantial amount of fish oil that we harvested from the whale&#39;s blubber with such effort and at great cost isn&#39;t wanted anywhere in Australia and hence has to be destroyed because it, too, has begun to stink. There are no buyers for the baleen (whalebone) either, so the whole whale affair has turned into a huge fiasco and cost the camp a tidy sum.</p><p>Salary of 16s on 19th/8/17<br />On the same day I received from Lloyd &nbsp;&pound;3 for September, October, November.</p><p>Salary of &nbsp;&pound;1/12/- on 18th/9/17</p><p>From Lloyd on 4th/9/17 (for August) &nbsp;&pound;1/-/- Sep 1917.</p><p>The gates now open at 6am and close at 6pm; roll-call is at 6pm.</p><p>[Note in Margin:] salary &nbsp;&pound;2/8/- comp. &nbsp;&pound;1/-/-</p>
