but did no good & got particular attention our artillery, put a wonderful barrage.
Tuesday 13/2/17
Cold & frosty. Hardly any casualtys – helped to bury three lads of the 14th Brigade, who were killed by a shell striking their Hut. Went for a cruise around Trone Wood & Delville Wood & inspected several Tanks that are out of action. Several Bombs dropped round about us within 200 yards of us – handled a Lieutenant & 3 men from same.
Wednesday 14/2/17
Cold & Frosty. Got a chance of seeing a bit of country in a Motor Transport – so forfeited my days sleep – Had a run as far as the Somme – around Happy Valley – Suzanne – Bray – Meaul & outskirts of Albert. Got permission to inspect a big Aerodrome – where there was hundreds of planes – ascending & descending & in all stages of repair. Also saw a big German interment camp – where several hundred Fritzs - they mostly work on roads & look a jolly sight better than our own boys.
Apart from the motor car, I had to walk about 10 miles, got home in time for night duty, but feeling very tired – Very
