fagged out – haven't had a decent sleep for a week, heavy artillery firing etc.

11/8/16 Friday

The usual trench warfare going on, & only a few casualys night & day.

12/8/16 Saturday

Trying hard to rain – Fritz shelling villages of Laventie - Fleurbaix freely – of no military importance. Altho still running Eton Hall Dressing Station – we were ordered to also relieve the 8th Field Ambulance & take over the First Aid Post below Fleurbaix – no rest for the wicked or willing – Luckily we can handle all at present very conveniently.

13/8/16 Sunday

Went to Mass & Communion at Nouveaux-Monde 6.30 am. Fritz shelling around "La Bassee". Having a blow from the trenches (Late Parade. Crimed but appealed & got off.)

14/8/16 Monday

Rain off & on all day – Got orders to get back to my dug out at Eaton Hall – Very lively trench warfare, also lively sniping all night.
