Dear Sir In reply to yourletter of the 18th re aboriginesof the district - The name ofthe tribe inhabiting this partof district is Drumbi[_]l. It is adifficult matter to give theboundaries as they are nomadic intheir habits & wander from theTweed & Clarence rivers, in factin the main days followed thefood supply. But the Headquartersof the tribe can be given as theBrunswick River. The name of the next tribe is BullinaHeadquarters mouth of RichmondRiver. The name of town Ballinabeing a corruption of name ofTribe. I append a few aborigineterms that may be useful, whereI have placed _ under a letterit is silent & the next letteris sounded sharp forinstance. Bargεl the ε issilent whilst the l is sounded sharp.
