To The Revd W. Crine and
W.G. Markey, Esq
Sirs
Your letter dated 13th of August came only to hand Decr 14th Inst - To which perhaps it is only necessary to reply that the Revd S. Marsden has been, and yourselves are, by this time, informed of my determination, namely to carry on the mission on land which the Governor has granted me independantly of your support. And I thank God who has enabled me for that He wanted me faithful putting me into the ministry from which ye have exerted your utmost to thrust me out. See page 31 of the printed statement - Was that resolution your will or mine How can you in the name of Truth turn round with such puerile [indecipherable]history! And what other construction can be honorably put on your resolution than the one your agent the Revd S. Marsden and myself formed on the subject. See his letters page 57 and 59. Your letter boasts of regard to my feelings and laments the want on my part of [indecipherable] and [indecipherable] yours will allow me to mention a few of many instances of your [indecipherable] disregard to the feelings of my [indecipherable] in your correspondence with and conduct towards them, with what the Christian word is yet unacquainted .
