31/1/17 Wednesday
Snowing – very cold – Very quiet except for Artillery duels. Our Bearers went out.
1/2/17 Thursday
Frosty – About 6 pm 4th Division hopped over & took easily a very important trench, they had few casualtys & came back with some 50 prisoners. Heavy bombardment all night – All pay books called in. Got a fine parcel from Frank.
2/2/17 Friday
Frosty – Heavy bombardments, several small successful raids – a number of prisoners came through. Dr Helstrom got badly wounded at one of the posts – he was a great patient & said the – thing burst 6 yards away & this is what I got - is it good enough for Blighty – several bearers got slight wounds.
3/2/17 Saturday
Frosty & bitterly cold. Very few casualtys although two lines of captured trenches were retaken four times, finally our boys bombed them out & made good. A few more prisoners came through.
