am cabling & writing to Armstrong today, as I don't think I shall be able to get any more information. I can't hear how Harry Foster is nor where he is. Peter Stuarts wounds were only superficial; but they didn't give him a chance to come back from Malta for 6 or 7 weeks. I didn't know that Barney Bromley had been wounded. Jack Richardson's hand got septic and has given him a lot of trouble (in Egypt I think). I am glad you had Mrs. Stretton up; she is so bright, and the other bright young men around you do you all good. Jessie wrote me that she may be getting married in August or September. It would be of no use waiting till I come home; because that time is so uncertain. You don't appear to have got the book of very nice views of Alexandria I sent you from there on March 1st.; did you? I haven't seen Charlie Maxwell since the middle of April. He has not
