Dear old Mother,
Here 4 weeks today, and quite safe. I got 2 letters today from Russell at Port Said. He seems in excellent form, and I have as his address c/o Bank of Australasia Threadneedle Street London.
I got a p[ost] c[ard] from M.J. Kelly today, your letter of April 5, Jessies of April 4 from Bingera, a letter & piece of music from Winnie Miller, a letter from Smithson & a card from Toon. Please thank them all for me. I am out of paper & envelopes. Having a busy time still though not as strenuous as at first. Hear that Harry Foster was wounded but can find no trace of him in the books. Apparently he didn't ask for me like poor old Eric Boyd did. Eric was progressing favourably the last I heard before his ship left Alexandria. I don't know which hospital he would be sent to, but he is sure to get word sent to his father. I am awfully sorry about him. He was using a periscope, and tried to get a shot at the Turks with his revolver over the sandbags, when he was hit. The wound was big enough to have been caused by a piece of a shell. He lost a lot of blood before he reached me.
