I have written to Russell telling him to be careful of himself. But I feel sure he will take no unnecessary risks. The Light Horse, dismounted, are coming here in very welcome numbers, and doing well. Claud Smith had a long talk with me the other day; as did Allan Williams. They both look extremely well. I think you managed the Dudley business wonderfully. Kindest regards to all my dear old friends. I wrote to Alec 2 days ago. Don't forget to give my very kind regards to Lily & Mrs. Diamond & the Lyles. I am pleased Mrs. Halberstater got my card which was sent before I had heard of the Mayorship, I sent another p[ost] c[ard] of congrats. since.
