in the Latd. 22º: 00' S Longd. 139º :45' W -- thirteen of the Men are with me, three sailed in a Boat for Port Jackson, and the Captain with two others have taken a passage in the Jenny of Bristol, for Nootka Sound, a Schooner that sailed from Matavai a short time before I arrived -- six Men, the remainder of the Crew, remain on Otaheite. -- One of their Boats I had refitted and became of great use to me. --

The Natives gave me the agreeable News of Captain Edwards taking the greatest part of the Villains who took the Bounty from me, -- to my surprise he left me no information, but the date of his sailing, on the back of Captain Cooks Picture. -- By the same means also I found that the Discovery and Chatham sailed 24th Jany. 1792 -- of this you have no doubt arrived full information, and that the Bounty has not been heard of. --

I did not leave Otaheite untill[sic] the Plants had grown and were in the finest state imaginable.  All my plans for our future wellfare[sic] were regulated, and the
