I arrived at Otaheite on 9th of April. Sailed 18.th July - Passed Whytostachee the 17 July - Determined the situation of Mayorga Isles the 4.th August - Made the eastermost[sic] of the Islands of my Name on the 5.th Augt. and left them on the 12.th. - On the 18th August saw the Islands I discovered to the northward of the New Hebrides and left them on the 19th - on the 30.th of Augt. saw Louisiade - the 1 Septr. fell in with the Reefs of New Guinea & on the 21st was clear of them. On the 2 August October Anchored off Coupang in Timor & on the 10th left it.
If I had dared to have borrowed on the time I had to make my passage through between New Holland and New Guinea, I would have satisfactorily explored that pass and the other lands I revisited and discovered, but as the success of the Voyage depended on my getting
