From some circumstances that have transpired respecting Mr Barrelier I shall not be anxious to repeat these Kindnesses towards him which I have done - however I hope he will do well he has talents but I fear not much sincerity.  I see Collins's Book has undergone a Second Edition.  Grant has Published, and Mr  Thompson threatens.  These Sir will you if so disposed, find a Corner to put these Antipodean productions, of Mr Grants I have only seen the Review it appears to carry the quotation "Ex Nihil" &c. e are also told that the first Lieutt of the Calcutta proposes to torment the world with his ten books observations.

I am glad to find you received the things sent by the Glatto & Calcutta safe - I should have sent some plants alive by the latter Ship, but the Commander was Captain ---. If Brown is with you he will be glad to hear the garden goes on well & Cayley is attentive the Man more so - perhaps much of its good appearance may belong to the incipant Rains we have had for the last Month which I am sorry to say will great greatly reduce our Crops of Wheat next year as it has been impossible to turn the Ground up either by Plough or hoe for sowing, however we have a present abundant Crop of Maize & year Store of Wheat.

Our Hops thrive exceeding well & a very considerable number of Cuttings have been taken further this Year.  This Valuable plant thrives extremely well, indeed those who are accustomed to its growth
