Wrote letter to G. Thompson

[June 23]

Things are fairly quiet only we hear the big guns going off, which we are used to.  Done a few trips on cycle, & it was pouring (rain) at tea time.  Some fellows killed by lightening others killed by shell in Armenteers, [Armentieres], Germans blew a church tower to bites.  I think our fellows used it for observation.  French people & children are still here around these fire zones.  Dark night, every thing quiet.
