when we consider recollect that the Experience of a year has Taught us, that no Practical inconvenience Either to the Government or the people has risen, or is Likely to arise from the want of Gold Coin, which in Fact could Scarcely be Considerd as a Circulating medium at the time when we were deprivd of it, so general had the use of Bank notes become in Every Transaction of Life.

We may derive however Some Consolation for the absence of Guineas which the Bullion Commee so anxiously Enquire after, by Recollecting that metallic money while in Circulation is as unproductive Either to individuals or to the State as it would be if Lockd up in an iron chest, it is in Fact a dead weight on the Community, as neither interest or mercantile profit is in any shape derivd from it, the Sole advantage of it is, to Enable to the buyer to place in the hands of the Seller the value of his Commodity to be retaind by him as a Pledge for his Security till he himself chuses to Exchange that Pledge for Some other article Commodity of which he Stands in need, thus does an article
