known, The value of meat & of Bread as well as most other Purchaseable Purchaseable Commodities has more than doubled itself during the last half Century, a Pound Sterling therefore will not now Purchase as much as Ten Shillings would have done 50 years ago & a debt of Ten Thousand Pounds incurrd at that time, may now be paid off for Less than five Thousand in monetary value That is by the Sale of Land or goods, which 50 years ago would not have provided £5000, but will now realise more than £10,000

For better understanding the nature of Countrey Banks it will be necessary to divide Them into Two classes the Lending Banks and the buying Banks.  The Lending banks which are the Elder of the two originated probably in the temporary necessities of the manufacturing Interests & soon became Eminently usefull to the Landed interest,  They are in Fact the Cheif Supports of the Prosperity both of the Landlord & the Tenant, The Landlord is enabled by their assistance to Remit his mon Rent to London in their bill & the Continuance of which, generaly a month, appears to him to realy Costs him
