Fri 12thThis morning we were out bright & early & were out on parade at 7.30 AM. The whole of this camp took part in a big scheme; We were attacking a hill a few miles from here, the artillery first bombarded it & their shooting was very good The Light Horse was attacking the left flank & the infantry the right & centre; we were advancing under cover of the artillery fire, until it was too dangerous to fireof hitting us & then we had to finish the battle with rifle & bayonet; Cardboard men were stuck up in the ground to represent the enemy & by the time we were given the order to charge with the
