Before leaving Australia the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth authorised me to return via Simpson's hafen in the Bismark Archipelago if the Intelligence Department of the War Office should desire a report upon that port.

I should be glad to learn the wishes of the Department on this matter and the points, if any, upon which information is required.

My visiting German New Guinea will involve no charge against Army Funds.
