in uniform were greatly pleased. Mr Newton proved an excellent host entertaining us with his yarns of some of his extensive travels & anecdotes[?]. If the meal set before us was any criterion Mrs & Miss Newton were certainly cooks of the very best order. After dinner we three males went for a walk along the main street. Though only a village Sidcup appeared to be a fairly large one with several large and and well stocked shops. On our return we yarned with the ladies till bedtime. My bed proved vastly different to ship board bunk. The house is a large well furnished two storey place surrounded by beautiful grounds with lawn, trees, beautiful flower & vegetable gardens, & raspberry, red & black currant fruit bushes which
