Hotter here I rode 30 miles South to find another suitable camp site today, all the Nile Valley is much the same 100's of miles of good land about 6 miles wide only with Desert on each side.

The Highland Mounted Brigade are with us, their officers eyed me closely to see if I had [indecipherable] the Regular Officers who have knocked about the world treat us well, but some of the hide bound, jumped up Temporary Officers put on a lot of dog & speak of the Beastly Colonials it is a pity- as a wrong impression is formed on both sides.
