Sunday 2/8/14
It does not at all seem like Sunday and the sharpening of ammunition is still going on. Midday 11 o'clock a.m. the whole ammunition (about 3000) have been sharpened. The crew have had to work hard the last few days.

At 11.40 is "All men astern" the commander briefly expresses his thanks to the crew for their splendid work at the same time making the announcement that his Majesty the Kaiser has proclaimed the army and Navy in the state of mobilisation. So far Russia is the only opponent, the intentions of France and England being still uncertain. He also mentions that germany did not want war, but the sword was practically forced into his hand. He further asks the crew to do their share by throwing in all their energy, valour and courage when the time comes to strike,
