<p>[Page 95]</p><p>Friday, 31 August 1917<br />Today unexpectedly granted leave so telegraphed Aunt Ben telling her.<br />Expect to leave Lark Hall in the morning about 8 am. Paid etc during day. Cleaned leatherwork etc in evening.</p><p>Saturday, 1 September 1917<br />Reveille 5.30. Breakfast 6.15. Left camp 7.30 for Amesbury. Train left 9.50 arrived Waterloo 1 pm. Marched to HQrs, A.I.F., Horseferry Rd &amp; dismissed.&nbsp; Caught train for Buckhurst Hill 3.35 &amp; arrived at Roebuck Hotel 4.15. Met Aunt Ben &amp; cousins Lottie &amp; Edie. Went for walk with latter. Tea 8.30. Retired 10.15 pm. Wet in morning, fine in afternoon.</p>
