Friday 30
Got on shore afternoon and evening wharf grounds guarded as leave Marseilles declared out of bounds.

Saturday 1 July
Left Marseilles morning 7 oclock travelled all day lovely scenery en route, passed city of Lyons 12 @ night.

Sunday 2
Still travelling all day through lovely country fairly comfortable good rations served good receptions everywhere along line, people cheering all time stopping twice to eat up, went within a few miles of Paris then stopped for a couple of hours all dissappointed at not going on to Paris.  Big crowd collected and sang Marseillase [Marseillaise] and G.S. the King, also presented flowers.
