Monday  [5]
Left subsidary line about eight o'clock.  Arrived village of Ligny-Thilloy did duty on No. 14 Post that night.  Dug-out corner of garden good post.

Tuesday  [6]
Stayed in dug out all day that night called out.  Company advanced 400 yards and dug trenches, met with no opposition.

Wednesday  [7]
Kept down in trench all day.  Night time midnight A and [indecipherable] Company went to to enemy lines but after severe machine gun fire had to retire, one killed couple wounded.

Thursday  [8]
Stayed in trench again all day bitterly cold and miserable all day, night time patrol went out and cut enemy's barbed wire.
