Monday 2
Morning fatigue till one o'clock carrying timber, afternoon slept night time ration fatigue.

Tuesday 3
Morning fatigue firing line got pigeon bombed one man killed.  Paid forty francs in afternoon, night time pulled out of bed for fatigue pushing timber up to the firing line until midnight.

Wednesday 4
Shifted out of supports to another part in the rain wandering around like lost sheep all day then put on guard.  Enemy very lively with minnies late in afternoon, no one hurt, tucker getting very light.

Thursday 5
Still on permanent guard, very bleak and wet, gas attack @ night several men gassed.  Our own shells also lobbing very close.
