Monday 25
Slept in morning not feeling to good, afternoon did no fatigue shifted quarters six o'clock to go on guard, what sounded like bomb fight with patrols occured out in No Mans Land during night.

Tuesday 26
Still on guard all through night fairly quiet until nearly two in morning then bullet missed head by about a foot.

Wednesday 27
Still on guard duty very cold night also foggy.

Thursday 28
Shifted down to supports in morning, afternoon went down to Armentieres for a bath just got in heart of city when German shells fell about one hundred yards from us, ran for our lives took refuge in an old brewery lots of men, women and children killed also some of our soldiers.
