Friday 22
Left Armentieres half past eight arrived trenches eleven relieved the 4th Seaforth Highlanders went on gas and observation duty @ seven, stand too all night, very cold and quiet on this sector big bombardment and raid further down.

Saturday 23
Came off gas and observation guard seven did water fatigue then went out in No Mans Land over the wire for five hours, bitterly cold and damp, nearly stopped one of our own bullets.

Sunday 24
Slept all morning till dinnertime, afternoon fatigue for two hours.  Patrolled trenches all night, cold as usual and fairly quiet.
