French warships were in these waters and indeed in the twilight 2 French cruisers convoying 2 mail boats coming from Nagasiki were reported from the crows nest (look out) in which signal Lance Corporal Metzing was look out. With some effort 2 ships and 2 torpedo boats could be distinguished in newtral waters. Signal Lance Corporal M. was afterwards promoted to 1st Sig Lance Corporal by the commander.

We took course for Japan for bluff and later altered it for Tsingtau. The spirit on board was splendid and in the mess our prize was celebrated with champagne.
