Friday 4
Had a days spell at [line?] @ night went on gas guard at post @ support trench.

Saturday 5
Guard until six in evening saw aeroplane brought down landed safely in our own lines, reported another one down further along line.  Called out at night to go up to firing line mend blown up paraphet on the outside plenty bullets about.

Sunday 6
Easy day afternoon detailed again for gas guard, went on 6 to 8 shift and 12 till 2 plenty machine gun bullets flying around.  First week in trenches enough as good as a feast.
