[Saturday 26 August 1916]

Calm. Bound for Southampton [indecipherable] Blind & unfit to travel 100's of Stretcher cases be good to crippled men after this war. I'm thankful I'm able to get about-
Still we are all merry & bright.
The boat is a blaze of light at night & so different to a Troop ship.
Of course I'm going to Dotty but there's only one [indecipherable] & you Mother I hope you get my letter & photos from Alex. Only 4 Australian officers on board so we must be careful per example
