[Monday 3 July 1916]

Many calls for officers for Camel Corps & Artillery Many of our best Rankers are getting commissions good luck to them-
We carry on much as usual when not out on a Stroll STUNT, we are digging trenches in the sand, which promptly fill up again before the morning-
Gen Cox our Brigadier has gone to England for 6 weeks so Col J B Meredith is our Brigadier again-
Clive Weston a sergeant with me in Africa & a brother of Mr Blake's was in my Tent half an hour ago.
We hope to go back to the Reserve within the next 3 weeks about 7 miles from the Canal
